Windy City Raceway Ministries Slot Car Racing Team track is on the Road !!
April 2008 saw the Windy City Raceway Ministries Slot Car Racing Team track on the road to serve the fans at Talladega Super Speedway in Talladega, Alabama.
Our own Carol and Glenn Spoolstra took the long road trip to Alabama for the first time this spring, pulling the WCRM Slot Car Racing Team trailer behind their RV.
Hundreds of fans had the opportunity to use the newly completed slot car track all weekend long in multiple venues throughout the vast campground layout at Talladega Super Speedway.
No matter that a little rain dampened the action on Saturday night, a great opportunity for outreach was provided by Carol, Glenn and the local volunteers who helped out.
A great time was enjoyed all weekend long.
No doubt, as the Spoolstra's pulled out of 'Dega on Sunday, they were tired, but energized at the same time. What a great outreach opportunity WCRM has with the WCRM Slot Car Racing Team trailer.
Want to be part of the action all summer long as the track is used to help spread the word of God at several NASCAR tracks ?

Thanks to all the selfless volunteers who have spent countless hours building and maintaining the slot car track. Way to go !!!
Thanks for serving with us this past season
at Chicagoland Speedway!!
You took the challenge and came away with flying colors!
Windy City Raceway Ministries has raced through its fifth season at Chicagoland Speedway in 2007.
And you, our spectacular volunteers, made the season a huge success. Way to go !! God worked through you in many exciting ways.
WCRM volunteers from all over the greater Chicago and western Indiana areas performed in a variety of track guest service roles. These jobs were anything from usher, bag checker, elevator host, tram and/or trolley host, ADA cart driver, info booth host, to working in the Lakeside or infield convenience store.
Many volunteers also manned the two WCRM tents and helped with lost and found and also with lost children and adults. Show cars were the order of the day during NASCAR weekend and the new Slot Car track was a huge success at the main tent during the IRL / ARCA weekend.
NASCAR weekend saw WCRM’s newly built slot car track and trailer rig be put to a maiden voyage test.. Johnny Sauter, (#70 Yellow Transportation cup driver) raced against campground fans Saturday evening after the Busch race on the newly built track. One youngster told Johnny, “You’re doing pretty good!” as he maneuvered a speedy little car along the figure eight.
On Saturday night, the classic rock band, River, from southern Illinois, played to a large, enthusiastic crowd at the Lower Ridge Campground. River tossed out Turtle Wax samples and Warriors for Christ tee shirts, and also gave away racing tires to the exuberant fans.
Forgiven, a band formed at New Life Church in New Lenox played for the first time in Raceview Farms Campground to a very receptive audience. . The band also had some fan giveaways that are always a crowd pleaser.
Besides being the first concert here, Forgiven also broke in the new Motor Racing Outreach traveling stage. MRO, Focus on the Family, and Raceway Ministries partnered throughout the weekend by using this stage and also through a contest. Ministry volunteers had guests register for a chance to win a full-paid trip with pit passes to the 2008 Daytona 500. This was an exciting partnership that will certainly flourish in the race environment.
Many race guests stayed after these two outreach concerts for prayer, support, or with faith-based questions with the band and volunteers. Band members and WCRM volunteers loved this interaction, and many say it is their favorite part of the weekend.
God blessed us again during the IRL / ARCA Weekend. The weather was great and the ministry opportunities plentiful.
All said and done, you filled well over 250 volunteer opportunities in 2007 and the entire Leadership Team of WCRM thanks you for all you did to make this year a rousing success !!
